AEPD report on private security agencies use of facial recognition

The Spanish data protection authority (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos – AEPD) published a report on the use of facial recognition technologies by private security agencies, in which it addresses the possibility of these processing activities carried out by private security agencies to be exempted from the application of the GDPR under its article 2(2)(d), considering that these are carried out for public security reasons.

The report is only available in Spanish.
